For as long as I can remember, I've had the sense that the natural objects in our world have spirits or souls - what the people who like to name things call animism. Doesn't matter what you call it, or what you believe, but I think everyone has special places we connect to - forests, seashores, rivers, gardens - and many of us also feel affinity with certain animals, be they wild or domesticated.
